Back to Hunger Games...take 2

Time for a new book...
I've had some recommendations from students, and so I've decided to try out book two of the Hunger Games series, Catching Fire.  I'm not totally sold on this, but the first book was good enough to get me started.  I'm only a few pages in, so I can't judge it yet.
I do have some questions though:

  1. Will Katniss choose Gale or Peeta?
  2. How does she get involved in the competition again?
I'm hoping that the plot gets into how terribly the Capitol treats the people, and maybe Katniss will confront them somehow.
I always form questions before I read a book, and I start to make predictions, too.  This book's interesting because you really don't know exactly where it's going to go after the ending of book 1.
Has anyone else read this book?  What did you think?

    2. It does get better! I was kind of slow on the last book, though. It took me about three months to finish it, because it was so detailed!

  8. I really liked the first book and I think it was the best book in the series. I agree with you, Catching Fire was not the best and it slowed me down too. I read the the last book, Mocking Jay, but I stopped in the middle because it was so boring. I will try to finish it though. I also saw the movie, but it didn't show some parts, though I still enjoyed it.

  10. Mr.Milbrand I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Catching Fire was my favorite book from the Hunger Games series. I can agree that it was boring in the beginning, but it got really good in the end. Also if you think the second book is boring you should check out the third book instead it's really exciting yet sad if you see me in class you will see my whole bunch of the hunger game books there but I'm telling you keep on reading it gets better and the third book is pretty good so check that one out too. Also what did you think of the first one

Though I'm not in this grade I have to side with Mr.Milbrand. I only read like half of the book maybe less, but I thought it was really boring and it wasn't in my interest. Plus, i'm more interested in the genre of comedy. Anyways, I've been told to read it again, but I never had the time or the interest to finish the book.

P.S - if your wondering how I found this Alyssa and Sarah N. used my iPod to post.

    1. Sam I can't believe you said that even when I was right next to you it was awesome and you told me you read like two pages so you can't just say it boring you really didn't read it(:

Ahem Sarah that was Alyssa who said I read two pages and I can't blame you for believing her because she's your best friend, but anyways I read to around chapter 12. I know that some people said they thought it was boring including Mr. Milbrand and I happen to be in that group too. I'm sorry if it offends you in anyway, but that's my opinion of the book. Maybe one day I'll finish the book, but as for right now I'm not interested and think its boring.

    3. Sam you didn't even get to the good part so keep reading and I'll give you my book but please don't judge it yet and please keep reading and plus i know your opinion will change soon(: and I can tell this conversation going to be lonnnngggg

    4. Wow Sarah! You should be on like some kind of debate team! Though I'm really not interested in reading it again I might give it another try. Plus, this conversation will be going on for ever if I don't just suck it up and read the book. Yeah, I bet you this WILL go on forever! ;)

    5. I have to disagree it didn't slow me down at all and it wasn't boring to me but I guess I can't convince everyone ):

  15. Some good books that I read are the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. They really hooked me in right from the beginning and made me keep on reading. I would recommend them if you like action packed books. Also I would recommend Black Beauty. It was a good book that I read twice and still want to read it again. The Ramona series are really good books by Beverly Cleary. I am reading Twilight right now and it is slow in the beginning.Other really good books that I read are Andrew Clements books, Little Women, and Sarah, Plain, and Tall.
